Police announce initial results of winter DUI campaign

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Lake Tahoe police announced initial results from patrols for drunken drives this week.

From Dec. 16-18 police arrested four people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2010, police arrested five suspected drunken drivers during the same weekend.

A DUI checkpoint will be conducted in South Lake Tahoe Dec. 23, according to a statement from police. Extra DUI patrols will continue through the weekend.

Multiple DUI/Driver License Checkpoints and roving DUI patrols are planned in the Lake Tahoe and Placerville areas during the Avoid the 6 Winter Holiday DUI Campaign.

Law enforcement officers encourage all motorists to report drunk drivers by calling 911.
