A 48-year-old man was arrested after he led police on a chase in which he narrowly missing hitting pedestrians. He failed to pull over after he was spotted recklessly driving, authorities said.

Regis Milburn did not heed a police officer when he was spotted driving recklessly on Friday around 11:30 a.m. near the 7-Eleven on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, according to a South Lake Tahoe police officer.

Milburn led authorities on a chase near Sierra Tract and ended up ditching his 1988 Ford Fiesta in the woods near the South Tahoe Public Utility District plant, Lt. Martin Hewlett said.

Members of the police department, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol searched for Milburn in a stretch of meadow and dense bushes. A canine was summoned but Milburn was spotted by authorities and arrested without incident.

He was booked into El Dorado County Jail at no bail on suspicion of evading an officer, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, driving under the influence of a drug and being a parolee at large.
