Police investigate link between homicide, suspected suicide

Tribune staff report

South Lake Tahoe police are investigating a possible link between a homicide and suspected suicide.

About 2:30 p.m. June 20, police responded to the Lone Pine Lodge to investigate a reportedly suspicious circumstance after management reported hearing a child crying in one of the rooms. Officers entered the room and located a woman dead on the bed, with her 2-year-old child crying nearby. The child was not injured and was put into the care of Child Protective Services. There were no obvious signs of the woman’s cause of death, according to a press release from SLTPD. An autopsy was done on the woman, identified as 43-year-old Lyra Fisher-Bomediano of South Lake Tahoe, on June 22 and her death appeared to be a homicide, according to police.

Since June 20, police had been looking for Fisher-Bomediano’s husband, 41-year-old Aaron Fisher, for questioning about his wife’s death. He reportedly moved back to South Lake Tahoe from Hawaii about a week ago and is the father of the child found with Fisher-Bomediano. At 1:25 p.m. Friday, June 22, police found Fisher hanging from a tree in the forested area behind Raley’s near Heavenly Village Way. His death was likely a suicide, police said.

The case is still under investigation by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
