Police investigating Friday stabbing

South Lake Tahoe police are investigating a Friday afternoon incident where a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the arm near the intersection of 11th Street and Eloise Avenue.

The stabbing happened about 3:45 p.m. The suspect appears to have been riding a skateboard and the victim was riding a bicycle, according to a Friday statement from the city.

“Some sort of altercation occurred between them and the suspect stabbed the victim and ran,” according to the statement.

The suspect was described as a white man wearing a Boston Celtics hat, blue plaid shorts and a backpack. He was last seen running west across Emerald Bay Road and into the area of 10th Street and Roger Avenue, according to the statement.

Police, El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers set up a perimeter in an attempt to locate the suspect, but were unable to find the man.

The victim was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Lt. David Stevenson.

Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call 542-6100 or Secret Witness at 541-6800.
