South Lake Tahoe police are investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash on Rufus Allen Boulevard Monday night in which the driver allegedly fled the scene.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m., when a silver Ford sedan driving southbound at a high speed left the roadway, hit a fence and came to rest on its roof, said police Lt. David Stevenson.

The driver of the vehicle retrieved his dog and allegedly left the scene of the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, a 32-year-old Tennessee man, was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital with redness, abrasions and complaints of pain, Stevenson said.

It is unknown what caused the driver to leave the roadway. Stevenson did not release additional details about the suspect in the case.
