Sunday, Sept. 9
10:30 p.m., Horizon Casino Resort, South Lake Tahoe – theft. A woman from Santa Barbara, Calif., took a wallet out of her purse and left it in a casino bathroom. She came back 10 minutes later and discovered it missing. Douglas County sheriff’s deputies said the wallet belonged to 59-year-old Maria Boire. It contained $250 in cash.
Monday, Sept. 10
3:40 p.m., Bayview Trailhead, Emerald Bay State Park – ransacked pickup. Ray Kendall, 47, of Carson City, told an El Dorado County sheriff’s deputy that the right wing window of his green and silver 1993 Dodge pickup was smashed. Nothing was reported missing from the truck.
5 p.m., Bayview Trailhead, Emerald Bay State Park – car burglary. A deputy spotted shattered glass next to a red 1985 Subaru station wagon. The passenger side window was smashed and $11 was missing from a purse on the floor owned by Alison Ganong, 23, of Alpine Meadows.
Tuesday, Sept. 11
2:10 p.m., 3794 Montreal Road, South Lake Tahoe – loaded gun found. The manager of Tahoe Colony Inn called police after a loaded Smith & Wesson was discovered under a pillow in a vacant room.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
8:05 p.m., Sonora Avenue, South Lake Tahoe – exhibiting a deadly weapon in a threatening manner. A 16-year-old boy was ticketed for pulling a knife on a 13-year-old boy. Police said the 16-year-old is a former member of the gang South Side 13. The boy said he has been harassed and threatened by gang members since he chose to leave the group a year ago. He told an officer he threatened the 13-year-old because he believed the boy was a member of South Side 13. Earlier the same day, 16-year-old had reported to police that he had been threatened by gang members at South Tahoe High School.
Thursday, Sept. 13
11:09 p.m., a wooded area behind 3425 Pioneer Trail, South Lake Tahoe – wildland fire. A fire burned 60-foot by 20-foot piece of land off Pioneer Trail around 11 a.m. Firefighters from South Lake Tahoe the U.S. Forest Service knocked out the fire in minutes. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, said South Lake Tahoe Fire Capt. Bob Hoy.
