Post office posts holiday hours

OK procrastinators, this is the last weekend to mail out holiday packages and cards.

The Main Post Office, at 1046 Al Tahoe Blvd., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Clerks will not have the ability to perform functions that require cash, checks or credit/debit cards on Christmas Eve. Post offices are open for parcel pickups only.

Tom Millham, office clerk at the Al Tahoe branch, said last minute packages should be sent by express mail in order to make it in time for Christmas.

“We will have people here Sunday and Monday delivering express mails,” Millham said. “Sunday we will have the side door open for the pick up of parcels, certifieds, express mails, stuff like that.”

Wrapped holiday gifts sent through the mail should be packed inside another box, according to Millham.

“People like to send gifts in wrapping paper, but we recommend any gifts wrapped in wrapping paper are put inside another box,” he said. “Any time you can, consolidate. Put all the gifts, if they’re going to one family or the same address, in one box. Send one item.”

The following is a list of mail pick up hours for Christmas Eve:

n The Tahoe Valley Fire Station, at 950 Emerald Bay Road and the Stateline Station, at 3962 Lake Tahoe Blvd., will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

n The Bijou Postal Store, at 3368 Sandy Way, will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

n The Tahoe Paradise Station, at 3180 U.S. Highway 50, will be open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
