Power restored to thousands of NV Energy customers at Tahoe

About 5,000 NV Energy customers were without power from Stateline to Cave Rock after the failure of four circuits at the Round Hill Substation 5:30 a.m. today.

NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist said the the outage also affected customers on upper and lower Kingsbury Grade.

“Crews were able to restore service to about 2,500 customers, primarily in the Round Hill – Zephyr Cove area, at 9 a.m.,” he said. “There were brief outages, 15 minutes or so, affecting downtown Stateline and the Nevada side of Heavenly Mountain, but those customers are back in service.”

Walquist said there is no estimate yet on when service will be restored to the remaining 2,500 customers. The cause of the outage hasn’t been determined.
