Prescribed burns today at West Shore, this weekend at South Shore

Smoke will be visible within the Lake Tahoe Basin today and over the weekend because of prescribed fuels management burning.

The U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews will conduct prescribed burning

operations today in the Blackwood Canyon on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. The burn is approximately two acres.

A 30-acre prescribed burns is also planned this weekend in the North Upper Truckee area.

Travelers and residents can expect to see smoke from these areas.

The Logan Creek Project, north of Cave Rock on Tahoe’s East Shore has been

completed. Some residual smoke is expected to be visible through the

morning hours today, according to the Forest Service.
