Presentation planned on history of first transcontinental highway

David Borges, D.C., will be the guest speaker at the Feb. 12 luncheon meeting of the Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Dr. Borges will give a slide presentation of the development of the Lincoln Highway, which was the first transcontinental highway mapped in the United States. The Lincoln Highway was diverted in Reno to allow travelers the option to see Lake Tahoe.

Borges researched the development of the Lincoln Highway and has compiled interesting facts from the start of the Lincoln Highway Association to the Lincoln Highway remnants in our area.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting at the Horizon Casino Resort. The business meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. The cost of lunch is $12 per person. To make reservations and for more information call (775) 265-0357 or (530) 544-3930 by noon Feb. 9.s
