Property tax bills due December 12

Susan Wood

El Dorado County wants to remind property owners their tax bills are due Dec. 12 before they’re considered delinquent.

Questions on property values can be addressed at the county Assessor’s office by calling (530) 621-5719 or visiting the county administrative building off Takela Drive in South Lake Tahoe. The Assessor’s and Tax Collector’s offices are open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s property tax bills do not reflect any increase in the snow removal parcel fees, which will be determined during the Nov. 8 election. Measure R is the city’s ballot initiative, which would double the $20 parcel fee to $40 with an annual inflationary adjustment of 3 percent if it passes with a two-thirds vote. Residents receiving snow removal outside the city limits would pay $30 more – $50.

The county has scheduled an auction of tax-defaulted property Nov. 4 at the county offices in Placerville at 360 Fair Lane. The auction will feature 100 time shares. Registration for bidding will start at 10 a.m., and the sale will begin at 1:30 p.m.
