Public comments sought for Burke Creek realignment project

The Nevada Tahoe Conservation District (NTCD) is seeking public input on the Proposed Action for the Burke Creek Highway 50 Crossing and Realignment Project, Phases I and II. The proposed project would restore ecological function and processes within the Burke Creek channel and its adjacent floodplain, reduce pollutant loading to Lake Tahoe, and improve public safety on Highway 50 related to flooding. Project work would take place from May 1 to Oct. 15 of 2016 (Phase I) and 2017 (Phase II).

The proposed action and project maps are available for viewing at http://www.ntcd.org/html/burke.php.

This project is in the initial (scoping) stage of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis. This scoping notice is intended to provide an opportunity for affected or interested parties to express their comments and concerns regarding the proposed action. Submit comments by May 15. For more information on the project and how to comment, visit the link above or contact Michael Pook at 775-586-1610 x34, or mpook@ntcd.org.
