The Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Foundation’s Speaker Spotlight Series continues on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. in the LTCC Board/Aspen Room. The guest speaker will be Bruce Armbrust, a Mathematics and Physics instructor at LTCC. Armbrust will present “Worlds Beyond Our Own,” a look at the history and science behind the search for other planets in our universe. The community is welcome to this free event, and light refreshments will be served.

“For millennia, humanity has looked into the night sky with awe and wondered what was out there. That curiosity continues today as we scour the universe looking for planets orbiting other stars,” said Armbrust. His lecture will detail the history of the search for planets that lie beyond our solar system, as well as the science behind the techniques used to find them.

The Foundation’s Speaker Spotlight Series brings LTCC faculty and academic experts from other colleges and universities to South Lake Tahoe to share their knowledge and experiences with local students, and to encourage local youth to pursue careers in the fields of science and math. The Speaker Spotlight Series is made possible by a generous donation from community members Bob and Cathy Cliff.
