The congregation of Hope Lutheran Church and staff of Hope Lutheran Preschool are sponsoring a quilt and afghan raffle fund-raiser. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship and tuition assistance programs at the preschool.

Hope Lutheran Preschool is a private Christian early childhood learning center. The objective of the fund-raiser is to make the program affordable to all children in the South Lake Tahoe area. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will contribute matching funds.

Two quilts and four afghans, lovingly handcrafted by members of the church, will be raffled. One quilt by Shawna Chau is a multicolored Bear’s Paw pattern. The other, constructed by Chris Triggs and Cindy Merhaut, is a “Rag Flannel” quilt of rich fall colors. Master knitter, Berkeley Towle, who has won numerous blue ribbons at the San Luis Obispo County Fair, knitted a wool blend afghan, and Carolann Lujan contributed three crocheted afghans, including a festive Christmas one. All are sure to warm you up on a cold winter’s night.

Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. The raffle will take place after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Dec. 19. The winner does not need to be present. For more information and to purchase tickets call (530) 541-2113. Hope Lutheran church and preschool are located at 930 Julie Lane.
