Quilts on display in Reno

The works of more than 100 Truckee Meadows Quilters will be featured in the “Biggest Little Quilt Show in The West” themed Stars & Reels of Nevada from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

The latest work of the quilting organization will be displayed among Nevada memorabilia. Truckee Meadows Quilters have donated more than 400 small quilts to neonatal units at Washoe Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital. An “Opportunity Quilt” for a double – or queen-size bed, made from fabrics’ hand dyed “berries, blues and lavenders,” by Truckee Meadows Quilters and machine quilted by Ardith Rane, will be awarded to the winning ticket holder. Chances for the drawing are $1 for one ticket or $5 for six tickets.

Krys Munzing will be the featured quilter at the event, which also boasts more than 200 items in an exhibition, door prizes, unique vendors, a country store and quilting demonstrations.

General admission is $4 and children 12 and under are free. A portion of the admission will go to two charities: Nevada Historical Society Children’s Fund and the Family Court Judicial Family Benevolence Fund. For more information call (775) 788-3387.
