Rail jam at American Legion today

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the Shredtacular Rail Jam event at the American Legion from 4:30 to 10 p.m. today.

Open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages, the Shredtacular will be held on a feature built by Rob Giustina of On Course Events. Entry is $20 and includes a goodie bag and a raffle ticket for a chance to win tons of prizes.

The Shredtacular Rail Jam is a fundraiser for the Heavenly Snowboard Team’s upcoming trip to USASA Nationals in Copper Mountain, Colo., in April 2011. The team expects to send around 15 athletes to compete in the national event representing South Lake Tahoe. Event proceeds help fund the trip.

Registration will be held at the American Legion beginning at 4:30 p.m. and is $20. Practice begins at 5 p.m. Divisions include female, male skier and snowboarder, 12 and under, 13 to 17, and 18 and over. There will also be a Money Jam open to all participants for an additional $10. Winner takes half the pot.

The Foundation will serve Alpen Sierra coffee, hot cocoa and bake sale items throughout the event. The BBQ begins at 5:30 p.m. and items available will be hot dogs, chili dogs, chili, chips, and drinks; combos will be available for a $5 donation to the Foundation. On Course Events, Alpen Sierra, Grocery Outlet, Rip N Willies, Vans, USASA, Steamers and others helped make this event possible.
