Rapper comes home for birthday bash

Tim Parsons

Happy “birthDre.”

Dreda Dre, the rapper formerly known as 2003 South Tahoe High School graduate Andre Tyson, will celebrate his 25th birthday with a performance Thursday in MontBleu’s Opal nightclub. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. and the performance begins about an hour later.

Dreda Dre, New Money and Bayda comprise the group Ghost Coast Music.

“This is more of event for people to come party with us on my birthday,” Dreda Dre said.

Dreda Dre realized his talent for freestyling when he was about 19. He took a job working on the stage crew at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and has become skilled in stage building, sound, lighting, ambiance and production. He works for Another Planet Entertainment, one of the region’s two major music promoters.

This is the second annual birthday concert at the casino for Dreda Dre, who said he will play songs from the upcoming album, “LeGato Opera.” Ghost Coast Music previously released three albums.
