Rapper Dreda Dre celebrates birthday at Opal
April 9, 2009
Andre “Dreda Dre” Tyson has a reason to celebrate.
Not only is he having his 24th birthday, he’s also doing very well with his band and business, Ghost Coast Music.
“It was rough starting out, but I’ve moved to a whole other level in the last year,” said the 2003 graduate of South Tahoe High School. “The recession is not affecting me now because music’s not going anywhere.”
Dreda Dre is a rapper with two albums, “It’z Afficial” and “It’s Suspicious,” and is working on a new release, “Selfish.” Expect to hear songs from all three of those albums on Thursday, April 16, at Opal inside MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. DJ Frankie V. will be the host. Doors open at 10 p.m. Thursday is locals night at the club, which will offer $2 drinks.
Dreda Dre realized his talent for freestyling when he was about 19. He took a job working on the stage crew at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and has become skilled in stage building, sound, lighting, ambiance and production. He works for Another Planet Entertainment, one of the region’s two major music promoters.
He has a group with Tyrone “Eastside” Brown, and Brian “Bayda” Thurber called Ghost Coast Music, which on July 26 released the album “The Dank.”
