Rascal Flatts will swing at celebrity golf weekend
Rascal Flatts is the first band booked for the 2013 Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at Harveys Outdoor Arena.The country band will perform at 7 p.m. July 19, during the 24th annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament which takes places at across the street from the arena at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.The Band Perry opens the show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Generally, Harveys-Harrah’s first books a show during celebrity golf week, then schedules about 10 more shows from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends. Last year the first band named was Maroon 5, and it quickly sold out.Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney, who said he has an 8 handicap, participated in the 2010 American Century Celeb-Am on a Thursday, then performed at Harveys with his band on Friday and Saturday.Rascal Flatts released its first compelation CD, “Greatest Hits, Vol. I,” in October 2008. The album contains 13 of its biggest songs, starting with “Prayin’ for Daylight” and going through “Life Is a Highway.” In October 2009, it released a second edition of its greatest hits collection, this time with a second disc containing live performances of “Take Me There,” “Summer Nights,” “Me & My Gang” and “Winner at a Losing Game.”Its latest album, 2012’s “Changed,” continues to produce hits, including “Banjo,” “Come Wake Me Up” and the title track, “Changed.”Rascal Flatts has won numerous awards over the past decade, including multiple People’s Choice Awards, Academy of Country Music Top Vocal Group awards, 2011 CMT Music Award for Collaborative Video of the Year, several AMA awards and the 2010 Decade Award from the ACA.Tickets go on sale Friday through TicketMaster outlets, http://www.ticketmaster.com and http://www.apeconcerts.com.
