Grab your bikes and your friends — the final installment of the 2016 Tahoe Games Bike Night Series hits the track on Friday, Sept. 30. Come out to Lake Tahoe Golf Course for a night of family-friendly racing, followed by an after party and end-of-season sale.

While the heats begin at 8 p.m., be sure to show up early for registration, held from 6-7:30 p.m. There is an entry fee — $20 for adults and $15 for kids — but the event is free for spectators to attend.

Each race is approximately six miles in length, with two three-mile laps for most heats. Participants are divided based on age and bicycle make. Presented by On Course Events and Tahoe Center for Orthopedics, the races are open to all ages and levels.

“It’s been such a blast to continue to break the norms at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course.

“Riding your bike among family and friends, under the stars with festival-style lighting across a unique and challenging x-country course! Tahoe Games is an incredible experience everyone in Lake Tahoe should have,” On Course Events’ Leslie Schultz said in a press release.

The illuminated course spans the golf course, traversing fairways, going into the rough, through sand traps and over bridges.

Helmets and lights are recommended, as are glow sticks, bike décor and costumes to add to the event excitement. Electric bikes are not allowed.

All attendees will not want to miss the after party, which begins at 9 p.m. and offers a raffle, awards and food and drink specials. Local shop partners, Sierra Cycle Works, Tahoe Sports LTD, Shoreline of Tahoe, Watta Bike and South Shore Bikes host the end-of-season sale and will provide raffle prizes for competitors.

Lake Tahoe Golf Course is located at 2500 Emerald Bay Road.
