Local cyclists put feet to pedals Monday afternoon as they gathered at Pearl Izumi at the Y to kick off the two-week long Tahoe Bike Challenge.

The event “Ready, Set, Pedal,” featured grab bags, water bottles and bicycle lights.

The event kicked off a five-mile ride from Lake Tahoe Boulevard up Eloise, through the Tahoe Keys and a 10-mile bicycle ride up Lake Tahoe Boulevard, up Ski Run Boulevard down Pioneer Trail and back onto Al Tahoe Boulevard before returning to Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

South Lake Tahoe city officials, including City Manager Nancy Kerry, Planning Manager John Hitchcock and Police Chief Brian Uhler participated in the event.
