Lake Tahoe Basin roadwork schedule for Oct. 6-12

Caltrans has announced its roadwork schedule for the Lake Tahoe Basin for Oct. 6-12.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS



State Route 89

Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will relocate and replace gas lines, upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in 2016.



Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Lodge Drive to Ward Creek around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Friday. Contractors are scheduled to do utility and drainage work.

Work continues on a $1.2 million project from the junction of State Route 28 in Tahoe City to a half-mile north of Alpine Meadows Road installing new drainage inlets and pipe and raising the highway centerline profile to improve drainage.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Rampart Drive to Alpine Meadows Road from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and midnight to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 28

Work continues on Placer County’s $44 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

Westbound motorists can expect the No. 2 lane and shoulder closed from Fox Street to Deer Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

U.S. Highway 50

Work continues on completing a $43.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Boulevard. Landscaping, striping and electrical work is scheduled for fall 2013. Completion is expected in fall 2013.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from Trout Creek to Herbert Avenue around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage cleaning and striping.

Work continues on a $7.3 project from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected this fall.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from Fairway Avenue to Wildwood Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

Work continues on a $12.1 million project from the “Y” intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected in 2014.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from F Street to the “Y” around the clock from 9 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do striping and pavement profiling.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road in Meyers from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon on Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control around the clock from Upper Truckee River Road to Cirugu Street in Meyers from midnight Monday until noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge striping.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at the Upper Truckee River bridge in South Lake Tahoe around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge striping.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at the Trout Creek bridge in South Lake Tahoe around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge striping.

State Route 89

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 2 Ring Road to Meeks Bay Resort from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do tree work.
