Register now for August Nature and Outdoor Adventure Camps

The Lake Tahoe Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is sponsoring two youth camps in August. The first is a Nature Camp at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center. Preregistration is required. The session is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2-6. Nature Camp is limited to 12 participants, age 8 to 10. The camp fee of $75 includes all materials.

Kids age 10 to 12 years can join the Outdoor Adventure Camp scheduled for Aug. 16-20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a forest setting. OAC is limited to 10 participants and preregistration is required. The camp fee of $150 includes transportation plus all materials and use of equipment including binoculars.

All campers will learn about local wildlife and local ecology. Activities are designed to help foster appreciation for the Lake Tahoe area and to nurture a desire to become environmental stewards. Outdoor Adventure campers also will learn how to be safe in the wilderness.

For more information and to pre-register, call camp director Liz Maul at (530) 542-2857.
