Relay for Life gets ready

A kickoff party has been scheduled to inspire participation and team formation for the Relay for Life race to fight cancer. The party will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the gym at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, 1100 Lyons Ave., the former Al Tahoe Elementary School.

A brief program will present local volunteers and cancer survivors. The event will include food and live music. Everyone will learn how they can help with the Relay for Life Race that will take place July 22 and 23 at Kahle Community Park, 236 Kingsbury Grade. In addition, teams will be formed for the overnight relay.

For more information about the kick-off party, call Maryon Tilley at (775) 586-8330.
