Relay for Life is raising money

Provided to the Tribune

The Relay for Life Cancer Stompers team is conducting two fundraisers.

The first is a multi-family yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17 at 2890 Oakland Ave. The sale will include baby clothes and toys as well as household items.

The second is a Community Penny Drive. Two big barrels are decorated “relay style” for people to gather their pennies and drop them in the big purple barrels. The barrels are at St. Theresa School, 1081 Lyons Ave., and at Barton Memorial Hospital in front of the coffee cart by the laboratory. The barrels will be moved every two weeks, so the team will keep the community posted as to their next location.

All proceeds will toward Relay for Life, which is scheduled July 22 and 23 at Kahle Community Park, 236 Kingsbury Grade. Relay for Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society designed to increase cancer awareness in the community, celebrate survivorship, and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
