Hope Lutheran Church will sponsor an Alternative Gift Giving event from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the church, 930 Julie Lane. Proceeds will go to the South Lake Tahoe account for the El Dorado County Habitat For Humanity. This is an opportunity to “buy” a hammer, box of nails, a window or door to give to another person instead of something of little consequence or meaning. You would then send the card provided and what it signifies to the recipient.

Please consider this worthwhile cause as an example to our children (and others) for holiday gift giving. For more information call (530) 541-4654 or (530) 577-9352

Temple Bat Yam will sponsor a similar event the same day at 3620 Pioneer Trail off Saddle Road. For more information, call (530) 573-1201.

Harvest Festival has a Biblical theme

Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship will present its Harvest Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The annual alternative celebration is an indoor event and will take place at the church, 3580 Blackwood Road.

A $3 entry per child will provide an opportunity for games, face painting, crafts, caramel apples, candy, hot chocolate and the pumpkin patch. In addition, children are encouraged to dress as a character from the Bible and participate in a Biblical costume contest.

For more information, call the church at (530) 544-4357, ext. 231.
