RENO – Brandon Allen hit his first home run with the Aces to propel Reno to a 10-9 victory over the Las Vegas 51s in front of 8,706 fans Friday night at Aces Ballpark.

Reno fell behind 2-0 after one inning, but Allen’s second-inning blast – a towering shot to right field – put the Aces ahead 3-2 after two. The Aces added two in the third on a Rusty Ryal RBI-double and a Josh Whitesell RBI-single. They stretched the lead to 9-2 in the fourth on a two-run single by Ryan Roberts, followed by a Whitesell sacrifice fly and a Chris Roberson RBI-double.

Vegas chipped away, tying the score 9-9 in the eighth before Whitesell drove in the eventual game-winning run on an RBI-double off the right-field wall.

Jason Urquidez (3-1) earned the victory for the Aces after throwing two hitless innings of relief. Aces’ starter Tony Barnette threw the first 5 1/3 frames, followed by Jose Marte and then Urquidez.

Las Vegas starter TJ Beam was tagged for six earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in a spot start. Rommie Lewis (1-1) suffered the loss after allowing one run in one inning of relief.

Six Aces contributed two hits, with Whitesell (2 for 4, three RBI) and Allen (2 for 4, three RBI) leading the way. Roberts added two hits and two RBI for Reno.
