Reno splits series with Salt Lake
Andy Marte lifted the Reno Aces over his former team Thursday night to earn a win and a series split with the Salt Lake Bees.
Reno got on the board in the first inning off a solo homerun by Garrett Weber and an RBI single from Jordan Pacheco that scored Marte. Weber now has four homeruns since being called up from Double-A Mobile on June 29 and now has a 14-game hit streak.
Salt Lake answered back with two of their own on a Brennan Bosch single scoring Tony Campana. A few batters later, Bosch tied the game on a wild pitch. The Bees took a one run lead in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Luis Jiminez scoring Roberto Lopez.
In the seventh inning, Marte hit a bases loaded, ground rule double to give Reno the 4-3 win.
Starting pitcher Mark Serrano went 4.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Jess Todd earned the win going 2.2 innings allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out three improving his record to 5-2 on the season.
Reno’s record moves to 56-50 as the team returns home for a four-game home stand against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
