The band was formed in 2010 in Reno and has been touring the West Coast ever since. In 2013 they were selected as a Red Bull Sound Select artist and were asked to perform at the inaugural Life is Beautiful music festival in downtown Las Vegas. That same year the band was also honored as Reno News & Review’s best band.

Moondog Matinee released its first album, “Vacancy at the Winder Lodge,” in 2011 and followed up with “Carry Me Rosie” this August.

Two songs from the album, “Ghost Dime” and “Last Night the Devil Learned My Name” are available to preview on the band’s website, http://www.moondogmatinee.com.

Group members count the Band, Tom Waits, Muddy Waters, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Dr. Dog, Black Keys, Jack White, Dan Auerbach, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen among their influences.

Doors open to Friday’s show at 9 p.m. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.
