Having completed an intensive training program that included passing both physical and written qualifying tests, 12 new volunteer reserve firefighters were recently inducted into the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and will be responding to the scene of many of South Shore’s fires and medical incidents.

These reserves will join two other reserve firefighters already aiding the city department. The reserves are required to pull one 24-hour shift per month, respond to emergencies when requested (via pager), perform inspections, and lecture at various public education programs.

This reserve force will also enter the pool of qualified individuals, with the training and exposure necessary, for future full time paid employment in the fire service. The Fire Department is proud to have such dedicated individuals participate in this important service to our community.
