Resort offers cable ride

Heavenly Mountain Resort has launched the Heavenly Flyer, an elevated zip line cable ride that glides above Lake Tahoe. The ride will operate year-round.

According to Heavenly officials, the Flyer takes riders at speeds up to 50 mph over the mountain with Lake Tahoe views. The Flyer has two separate lines, so participants can ride side-by-side. The ride is 3,300 feet long, the longest zip line in the continental United States.

Winter hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting. Summer hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lift tickets and sightseeing tickets are sold separately and are required to gain access to the ride.

The Flyer runs a limited number of times per day and are scheduled by appointment only.Riders must be at least 52 inches tall and weigh more than 75 pounds, and cannot exceed 80 inches tall or 275 pounds.
