Resorts Sports Network strikes new deal

The Resort Sports Network has expanded its sphere of influence, striking a deal with the American Skiing Company to add programming at four New England resorts.

“We’re really excited to have sister stations in those locations,” said Peter Loughlin, general manager for the Lake Tahoe station.

The Outdoor Adventure and Extreme Network based in Portland, Maine, which features “The Resort Report,” “Reel Thrills,” “Extreme Scene” and “Movie Nights,” will be adding programing to Sunday River, Maine, Mount Snow, Sugarbush and Killington, Vt.

As a result of this deal, RSN, which has 26 affiliates, will now provide programming to 56 resort communities.

Although RSN in Lake Tahoe is one of three owned and operated stations, which include those located in North Conway, N.H. and Summit County, Colo., the agreement is not likely to have a major affect on the Tahoe station.

“Certainly as the infrastructure of RSN grows, the Lake Tahoe station grows,” Loughlin said.

The lease agreement with ASC gives the 14-year-old network operational control of the four stations for the next six years, which is divided into two three-year leases.

“RSN’s experience and success at providing exceptional resort TV programming is a great benefit for these resorts,” said Mark Miller, senior vice president for American Skiing Company. “This deal has strengthened our ongoing relationship with RSN.”
