Review: Arts and crafts show at the "Y"

Several of Lake Tahoe’s photographers and painters are exhibiting at the arts and crafts show and Tahoe Art League benefit in the Millers Outpost parking lot on Highway 50 at the “Y.” They are surrounded by a large collection of the regular, but very good, artisans displaying their offerings.

The beautiful images of Bryan Madsen’s photographs caught my eye first. The colors were so vivid I had to look twice to see if they were paintings or photographs. He is able to capture the whole range of colors of magnificent Tahoe sunsets and prints them beautifully. If you miss him at this show, Bryan is also the owner of the Luminous Light Gallery located in the MontBleu Casino.

The photographic images of Jim Delco were stunning views of nature at Lake Tahoe. Jim has been involved with conservation campaigns since college and his high regard for his subject is evident in everything he does.

Loretta Bookhammer is showing her many silk paintings including a “Wizard of Oz” illustration. Nina Major is showing a wonderful collection of original watercolor paintings, and Carol Sue Jones, animal portrait artist, is showing a collection of mostly her wild animal portraits.

The food aromas were ever tempting and promises to be a good place for a visit.
