Richard Dale King
June 19, 1963 ~ December 15, 2018
Beloved son, and special friend to many, “Rich” passed away peacefully in his sleep from a previously unknown heart condition. He had his favorite Dallas Cowboys football in his hand and his beloved Border Collie “CJ” at his side in the home that he grew up in and returned to.
Born in Sacramento to Davey Eileen Paiva and Richard “Dale” King. The King family moved to Santa Fe, Albuquerque and then Phoenix, before moving to South Lake Tahoe in May of 1970. The family’s first home was a tent at Fallen Leaf Lake!
Rich was a natural athlete, excelling in both baseball and boxing at a very young age. Rich was small for his age, yet held his own in sports with kids who were older and bigger than he was. He attended Meyers Elementary, South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School.
Richard obtained his Tile Contractor’s license in June of 1994 and Richard and his (ex)-wife Brandi opened up Hangtown Tile on Hwy 49 South of Placerville. They bought a home on 5 acres nearby on Wolverine Court. After improving and then selling his spread on Wolverine and a short try at real estate development in Clinton, Missouri, Rich returned to South Lake Tahoe and continued to create some truly beautiful Granite and tile kitchens, baths, and floors in the surrounding area that stand as a testimony to his extraordinary artistic, building and mechanical talents. It was shortly after returning to Tahoe from Missouri that Rich discovered his passion for computer programing and Website design and created Webking.us. For the past 30 years, Rich called his mom’s husband, Doug Phillips his Dad.
In 2008 Richard survived a near fatal brain abscess while undergoing extensive Dental work. He fully recovered and then went on to complete two AA degrees at Lake Tahoe Community College, and Bachelor and Masters Degrees at Arizona State University’s School of Engineering. Richard was most recently preparing to transition from construction work to computer program management work.
His warm and mischievous smile, his many talents and his infectious enthusiasm will be greatly missed by all family & friends. Rich was predeceased by father Richard “Dale” King and Grandma Ardith Paiva. He is survived by numerous Paiva Aunts & Uncles, Cousins & Grand Cousins from California, Montana, Idaho, Switzerland, Wales, & So. America and the only remaining King family member Joey King of San Jose California.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 12 noon on May 25th for family and friends. Please RSVP to (530) 544-7707 (Best Rentals Property Management Co.) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
