Ricioli, Minghini excel in new Hole Shot Tour

South Shore racers are off to fast starts in the new Hole Shot Tour.

Trevor Ricioli of South Lake Tahoe finished runner-up in skicross on Wednesday and Thursday on the tour’s first stop at Mount Hood Meadows, Ore.

Ricioli was second to Tristan Tafel on Thursday and runner-up to Truckee’s Errol Kerr on Wednesday. Kerr finished third in Wednesday’s finals.



Bobby Minghini, originally from Snowshoe, W. Va. and a part-time resident of South Lake Tahoe, dominated the tour’s opening boardercross events. Minghini won Thursday’s event after finishing runner-up to Canada’s Christopher Robanske on Wednesday.

South Lake Tahoe’s Shaun Palmer was fourth in Wednesday’s boardercross. Jarod Minghini, Bobby’s younger brother, was ninth on both days and Roger Carver of Placerville was sixth and 11th.



The tour also visits Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Alpine Meadows on Feb. 2-4.
