Rick Gunn shares story of cycling around the world at Olympic Valley Lodge
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. – Tahoe local Rick Gunn, who circumnavigated the globe on his bicycle, shares his journey at a Squaw Valley Institute presentation Thursday, May 12 at the Olympic Valley Lodge in Squaw Valley. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a no-host bar social hour and the presentation starts at 7 p.m.
Gunn started his three-year, 26,000-mile cycling exploration of the world not knowing what to expect. What happened was an eye and soul opening experience. Attendees will hear about his extraordinary, uplifting, life-altering and unprecedented personal journey.
This special event is presented in conjunction with the largest cycling event in America, the 2011 Amgen Tour of California, a Tour de France-style cycling road race, presented by AEG, that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course from May 15-22. Lake Tahoe, America’s largest alpine lake, welcomes the world’s cycling elite to the Overall Start and Stage 1 Finish and Stage 2 Start. The Stage 2 Start begins under the Olympic rings at the base of Squaw Valley USA May 16.
