Ritz-Carlton Highlands opens Wednesday at Northstar

NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE – To say Steven Holt and the crew at the the Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe was busy on Friday would be a understatement.

Hundreds of employees at the region’s soon-to-be posh hotel were finalizing training, and every dish the kitchen could prepare was on display, filling in the spaces not already occupied by people and furniture. It’s typical for the week before a hotel opening, said Holt, the spokesperson for the new hotel at Northstar.

“It’s the first time a hotel of this scale has been done in this area, and we’re excited to be a good community partner,” Holt said.

The training and preparation, however, will soon be over.

The hotel opens on Wednesday. The restaurant, Manzanita, and the Highlands Spa will begin public reservations Dec. 11.

The free Highlands Gondola will also open and connect the village with the Ritz.
