Road controls for most of Tahoe basin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Many of the roads in the Tahoe basin have road controls due to a heavy snow storm.

Anywhere from 17 to 28 inches of snow could accumulate in South Lake Tahoe by Monday night.

Highways 50, 28, 207 and 431 require motorists to have snow tires or chains. Highways 89 and 267 require chains for all vehicles except for those with four-wheel drive. Chains are mandatory on Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe west of the Nevada state boarder. Chains are also mandatory on Interstate 80 from 1 mile west of Floriston, Calif. to Alta, Calif.
