Robinson leads local contingent in Golden West meet

John Robinson, a Whittell HIgh School junior, led four area track and field athletes who competed at the Golden West meet on Saturday in Folsom.

Robinson finished fourth in the 800 meters at 1 minute, 57.11 seconds. Alan Rios of Sobrato posted the winning 800 time of 1:55.99. Robinson ran a school-record time of 1:55.05 during his junior season.

Shannon Marshall, who recently graduated from Whittell, took sixth in the high jump at 4-11., Kyler Felton, who graduated from Whittell earlier this month, was fifth in the triple jump at 43 feet, 3/4 of a inch. Keremiah Crockett of Dublin High won the event at 47-0.

Shelby McIntyre, a South Tahoe High sophomore, took ninth place in the girls’ mile, recording a time of 5:18.38 in the field of 15. Savannah Camacho of Templeton High won the race in 5:03.58.

Last month, McIntyre won the Nevada state 1,600 championship and was runner-up in the 3,200.
