Robinson top seed in four events, Whittell sends 14 to State
FERNLEY, Nev. – The Whittell track and field team all but dominated the postings when the State seedings for the NIAA 2A State track and field meet came out Sunday.
John Robinson led the charge on the boys side. The senior qualified himself in four events – top seed in the 400 meter dash, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. His effort and the effort of the seven individuals or teams who are going to Las Vegas this week for the championships are what fueled a runner-up finish for the boys at the 2A Northern meet in Fernley.
The girls finished in a solid third place in the final team standings – led strongly by Darby Reeder who qualified in four individual events. Sammy Brumbach and Sierra Forvilly each will be heading south to compete in three individual events respectively also. All-in-all the Whittell girls are sending 10 representatives to the NIAA championships where both Brumbach and Forvilly hold one seeds in respective events.
Brumbach is top seed in the girls long jump, and will also be competing in the 100 and 400 meter dash. Forvilly is the top seeded girl in the 300 meter hurdles while she’ll also be competing in the 200 meter dash and 100 meter hurdles.

Three relay teams on the girls side advanced through Fernley and will compete at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas.
The 4×200 meter team of Hailey Elliott, Sabrina Swoger, Casey Simon, Caranina Palomino and Samantha Rupp will be representing Whittell.
