Alice M. and Candelaria “Candy” Rosalez Jr. celebrated 65 years of marriage Jan. 27 at a family gathering and dinner at their South Lake Tahoe home. During the festivities, the Rev. John Grace blessed the couple and their long marriage.

The couple, who have known each other since they were 10 years old, eloped to Reno on Jan. 27, 1943, and married at the Washoe County Courthouse. They have owned property at South Lake Tahoe since 1947 and moved to the area in 1968.

The Rosalezes have five children, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

When asked why they think their marriage has lasted so long, Candy said, “I found the right woman.”

Alice said, “We love and look after one another, and we know how to solve our ups and downs.”

They both agree that they hope their lasting marriage is an inspiration to their family.
