The second annual Nels Nelson award was presented to Dr. Guy Lease at the recent Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe installation dinner. This top Rotary honor is named for Nels Nelson, charter president of the Rotary Club, and recognizes members whose selfless actions demonstrate the ideals of Rotary.

Lease, a Rotary member since 1984, has been involved in countless community service projects over the years. For the past 10 years he has been chairman of the Rotary Youth Exchange Project, which sends local high school students abroad for a year of study, while hosting foreign students locally. In 2003-04 Rotary sent students from South Tahoe High School to Mexico and Brazil, while hosting students from Argentina and France.
