Rotary program trains teen leaders

Four South Tahoe High School students and one from Whittell High School recently attended the South Tahoe and Tahoe Douglas Rotary clubs’ weeklong intensive leadership training program.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program, which takes place in Portola, is a camp that helps next year’s high school seniors become tomorrow’s leaders.

Among the 200 students who attend the program were Mandy Heiser from Whittell, and Rand Norberg, Cameron Carmichael, Caroline Baghdikian and Laura Sears from STHS.

Participants come from different backgrounds but share one trait: Their school counselors, teachers and Rotarians see leadership potential in all of them.
