Rotary to host annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration March 13
The Tahoe Douglas Rotary club will host its 42nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 13 at Harrah’s Convention Center from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event is the club’s main fundraiser for local programs that benefit the community, including nonprofit groups and scholarships for high school students continuing on to college. Last year, the proceeds from the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration allowed the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club to donate nearly $30,000 to 27 community programs that in the South Shore area.
The evening will feature a complete Irish-themed buffet dinner including corned sirloin of beef and cabbage with all of the trimmings. There will also be wine tasting featuring premium California wines and Irish beer. JJ Entertainment will play music for dancing.
There will also be a silent auction with more than 200 donated items including ski passes, room packages, spa treatments, golf passes, autographed sports memorabilia and game tickets, artwork and dining certificates at many local restaurants.
Also included in the auction are dozens of individual accommodation packages from the Embassy Suites family of hotels. Some of the vacation destinations traditionally featured are Hawaii, San Francisco, Napa Valley, San Diego, La Jolla, Santa Monica, Scottsdale, Denver and Orlando. There will also be an instant raffle featuring prizes from local businesses.
The ticket donation is $60 per person. Reserved tables of 10 are available for the discounted price of $500 through Feb. 27. Tickets should be purchased in advance.
Ticket provide an entry into the grand prize drawing for a seven-night vacation in a two-bedroom timeshare in Hawaii. The winner may also exchange this grand prize for their choice of 500 first class resorts around the world.
Tickets may be purchased from any Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club member or at the following locations: Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 169 Highway 50 in Stateline, California Visitors Center at 3066 Lake Tahoe Blvd., and the Lakeside Inn & Casino cashier cage.
