The Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival will host an accomplished Sacramento chamber ensemble, Citywater, in the historic Valhalla Boathouse Theatre Wednesday.
“Hailed by Edward Ortiz as ‘a top-flight interpreter of contemporary classical music,’ Citywater is Sacramento’s own modern chamber ensemble,” according to a press release from organizers. “Comprising flutist Cathie Apple, clarinetist Milun Doskovic, percussionist Ben Prima, pianist Jennifer Reason, violinist Dagenais Smiley, and cellist Timothy Stanley; Citywater strives to charm and challenge its audiences with the newest music written. Establishing itself as one of Sacramento’s premiere chamber ensembles, Citywater performs regularly on the Festival of New American Music, was invited to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Crocker Art Museum by performing a new work written for the occasion, and was recently appointed as the ensemble in residence at the Sacramento State music department.”
The summer-long Valhalla festival is set to close Aug. 26 with James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash.
Valhalla is located just west of Camp Richardson off of California State Route 89 at Lake Tahoe’s South Shore.
