Safe Boating classes from Coast Guard

United States Coast Guard Auxiliary continues to conduct Boating Safely Courses on the first Saturday of the month. Fifteen students have completed the course thus far and others have signed up for the Aug. 4 course.

The eight-hour course takes place at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. Class starts at 8 a.m. and continues to 4 p.m. This is an excellent way to receive a boating education in the shortest amount of time. People who complete the course will be accepted by their insurance company for at least a 10 percent reduction in their boat insurance. They also become better prepared to meet emergencies on the water and a knowledge to avoid problems initiated by some who have never taken a boating course.

To register for the course and more information call Thurston Ott at (530) 544-2221.
