Sailors plan for month ahead

An active member of Pacific Inter-Club Yachting Association, the South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club serves members in both California and Nevada who are interested in boating and good times.

Here’s a list of this month’s activities:

— The club invites members, their guests and prospective members to enjoy a Scholarship Fund-Raiser dinner Saturday at the Clubhouse. A 6 p.m. no-host cocktail hour will be followed by a dinner prepared by Elton and Judy Stone. The $20 per person cost is earmarked to fund the club’s annual high school scholarship. — On Sept. 17, the club will be participating in the California Coastal Commission’s Beach Clean-Up Day. Volunteers will go as a group to Emerald Bay to help clean the beach from 9 a.m. until noon. A group lunch will follow. Contact: Leah Delury at (530) 541-2226.

— On Sept. 22 the Club has planned a day to tour El Dorado County Wine Country. Dean Gianelli of Golden State Wine Tours will transport the group while he enlightens them with his knowledge of wine and winemaking. Space is limited, but a second tour may be scheduled the next day if there is interest. Paul Jenkins, at (530) 577-7181, is arranging this activity.
