Sailors will recall adventures during Windjammers meeting

Provided to the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Steve and Matt Broughf participate in the San Francisco Mid-Winter Yacht Racing Series. They will talk about their adventure at the Windjammers March 31 meeting and oyster and chowder taste.

At Tahoe, most people go skiing or snowboarding in February. But some, like Mike Robinson, Brian Goepfrich, Elton Cassels, Steve and Matt Boroughf, and other local stalwarts opt to race their yachts in the open waters of San Francisco Bay.

At this Friday’s general meeting of the Windjammers, members and guests will enjoy the sea stories of Tahoe sailors who participated (and won some) in San Francisco’s Mid-Winter Yacht Racing series. And they’ll reflect their “Right Stuff” adventures between tastings of the best oyster stew and clam chowder this side of Martha’s Vineyard.

The “Stew & Chowda Taste” and March meeting of the Windjammers is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. March 31 and will be hosted by Doris and Ross Groelz at 2163 White Sands in the Tahoe Keys. Potential members welcomed. Bring your own bottle and a $10 donation.

Space is limited. Call (530) 542-1550 or (530) 544-4697 and make your reservation as soon as possible.
