Sam and Rosie Borges celebrate 60 years of marriage

Longtime South Lake Tahoe residents Sam and Rosie Borges celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Tuesday at home with their family. The couple was married in Las Vegas at the Little Chapel Around the Corner on Nov. 24, 1949.

The couple made their first home in Lemore, Calif., before moving to Lake Tahoe in 1965 to operate a wood splitting business. In 1967, they opened Borges Sleigh Rides, which still operates today. For more than 20 years, Rosie was also the crossing guard on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

They have four sons, Dean, Don, David and Dwight; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
