San Francisco woman dies in fall at Alpine

A 24-year-old Bay Area woman died Sunday after an accident at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.

Jessica Gregorie was hiking up an embankment to a ski and snowboard location when she dropped her snowboard, according to Vernon McCarty, Washoe County Coroner.

When she bent down to pick up her board she slipped on some ice and fell down a series of embankments that totaled approximately a 200-foot drop at 11:25 a.m., McCarty said.

The San Francisco woman was flown by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center where she died of internal injuries. An autopsy was conducted, McCarty said.

Representatives from Alpine Meadows had not returned phone calls to the Sierra Sun or the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
